The current “branch” logo suited at the time of forking because it resonated with team members who type “git branch” on a daily basis; branching and forking have similar meaning to developers. Since forking the LibreELEC team has absorbed people who are less development focussed and we started to look at how our logo is used. First, the Beta 1 ‘canary’ period found some video issues for pi users that are easily fixed with an update to the RPi patch we apply to Kodi, and 65% of LibreELEC users have a Raspberry Pi. On forums and social media channels there has been speculation about why we forked, so to avoid calling names we will explain things though a rock-band analogy: The fork is due to “creative differences” among long-term band members.
