LibreELEC (Krypton) v7.90.004 ALPHA

LibreELEC (Krypton) 8.0 preview builds continue with v7.90.004 which is now available for all build projects. Krypton support for imx6, WeTek Play/Core and various Amlogic devices is still being refined so do not expect perfection: we need our supporting community builders and code contributors to  refocus their efforts from improving Jarvis to improving Krypton. The changes in v7.90.004 include: Fix IR auto-repeat on many remotes Fix use of custom remote.conf files Fix /flash and /system unmount messages at shutdown Fix use of freetype in lcdproc Fix use S/PDIF passthrough on imx6 Fix typos in the imx6 update script Fix logic of NAND...

LibreELEC (Krypton) v7.90.003 ALPHA

LibreELEC (Krypton) 8.0 preview builds continue with v7.90.003 which is now available for Generic x86_64 hardware and Raspberry Pi devices. The Amlogic changes in Kodi VideoPlayer are still not at the point where we want larger-scale testing (and bug reporting) from WeTek Play/Core and Odroid C2 users so we continue to hold those builds. The changes in v7.90.003 include: Fix an issue where journald logs were wiped on RPi due to time/NTP changes Fix an issue with updating from .img.gz on WP/WC block device storage Fix an issue with mtools creating corrupt directories in installer images Fix an machine-id issue when /storage/.cache...

LibreELEC (Jarvis) v7.0.2 MR

The v7.0.2 maintenance release has a strong Raspberry flavour with firmware and Kodi updates to resolve minor Pi issues and a bootloop with the Xperience1080 skin. There are also tweaks to polish the “noobs” experience as the Raspberry Pi Foundation now includes LibreELEC in the list of distributions available via noobs and their downloads page. If you are not using Pi hardware this is a minor update as there have been few reports of things to fix. v7.0.2 changes include: Fix an issue where journald logs were wiped on RPi due to time/NTP changes Fix an issue where Kodi skins with no cursor...

LibreELEC (Krypton) v7.90.002 ALPHA

LibreELEC (Krypton) 8.0 preview builds continue with v7.90.002 which is now available for Generic x86_64 hardware and Raspberry Pi devices. Other hardware platforms are still pending upstream Kodi development for Amlogic reaching a suitable point where we can start builds. Changes in v7.90.002 include: Main changes: Fix overlay folder creation in Raspberry Pi images Fix option to disable samba via LibreELEC settings Fix occasional first boot issues with /etc/machineid Fix crackling digital audio with alsa and non-Kodi apps Fix for null NTP values in LibreELEC settings Fix support for DVD playback in Kodi Update Linux Kernel to 4.6.2 Update Kodi to git master...

LibreELEC (Krypton) v7.90.001 ALPHA

Alpha builds are an important part of our long-term test strategy. Our developers do high quality testing but we are small in number, don’t have every device to test with, and often sidestep problems without realising. The project needs a community of regular testers with a larger selection of hardware and more ‘human’ behaviour to find problems we miss. Thorough testing will be particularly important for LibreELEC 8.0 as Kodi v17 brings major video changes and introduces new retro gaming capabilities. At this stage it’s too early to talk about release dates but we do want to talk about LibreELEC releasing 8.0 shortly...

LibreELEC (Jarvis) v7.0.1 noobs respin

The LibreELEC v7.0.1 “noobs” images for Raspberry pi (all versions) were released with a couple of errors which have been corrected. To avoid the confusion of an odd numbered v7.0.1.1 release or rushing v7.0.2 out with only a couple of changes we simply swapped the download files on the server at 5pm GMT today. This exploits the “it didn’t work, so I downloaded the image again and made a new SD card and now it works!” trial and error process most first-time noob(s) users follow. If you are not using noobs, there’s nothing to see here, move along please 🙂
