LibreELEC (Krypton) v7.90.001 ALPHA

Alpha builds are an important part of our long-term test strategy. Our developers do high quality testing but we are small in number, don’t have every device to test with, and often sidestep problems without realising. The project needs a community of regular testers with a larger selection of hardware and more ‘human’ behaviour to find problems we miss. Thorough testing will be particularly important for LibreELEC 8.0 as Kodi v17 brings major video changes and introduces new retro gaming capabilities. At this stage it’s too early to talk about release dates but we do want to talk about LibreELEC releasing 8.0 shortly...

LibreELEC (Jarvis) v7.0.1 noobs respin

The LibreELEC v7.0.1 “noobs” images for Raspberry pi (all versions) were released with a couple of errors which have been corrected. To avoid the confusion of an odd numbered v7.0.1.1 release or rushing v7.0.2 out with only a couple of changes we simply swapped the download files on the server at 5pm GMT today. This exploits the “it didn’t work, so I downloaded the image again and made a new SD card and now it works!” trial and error process most first-time noob(s) users follow. If you are not using noobs, there’s nothing to see here, move along please 🙂

LibreELEC (Jarvis) v7.0.1 MR

It’s been three weeks since we published LibreELEC 7.0.0 so its time to roll-up fixes for minor issues in a maintenance release (MR). The list of changes is shown below. It’s a short list as the 7.0.0 release is proving to be nice and stable. Fix (disable) power saving mode on RTL8812AU chips Fix minor issues with SSL certificate paths Fix for an EPG search issue (backported from Krypton) Fix machine-id uniqueness on hardware with slow-loading network drivers Fix boot splash aspect ratio on nVidia GPU systems Update Kodi RPi-backport patch to address minor Kodi video issues Update the LibreELEC add-on repo to...

LibreELEC (Jarvis) v7.0.0 RELEASE

It’s taken six weeks crammed with activity to reach this point. The LibreELEC collective has grown to approx. 45 people (someone needs to start a who’s who guide) and there’s generally been some rather cool things happening around us. Happy times indeed. The v7.0.0 build contains Kodi Jarvis 16.1 (final) and a fix for some Verisign SSL certificate changes that impacted Pandora add-on users. It also addresses a bluez crash, a firmware update for Intel Skylake users, a fix for an Amlogic CEC issue on WeTek Play/Core. Most importantly it also contains our new logo branding. The website, forums, wiki, and...

LibreELEC (Jarvis) v7.0 BETA1

LibreELEC are proud to announce delighted to hit our first major milestone, 7.0 b1 🙂 The 7.0 beta 1 release is based around Jarvis 16.1-RC2. We’re not expecting any serious issues as code commits since v6.90.005 have mostly focused on tweaks to the build-system not changes Kodi or the core OS. If there are no surprises we plan to release a final 7.0.0 build once Kodi team release 16.1 final. From this point forward the only changes we allow in the 7.0 branch are commits that fix known user problems or major security issues. The LibreELEC team believe “lets bump everything...
